In May 2023, one of the Foundation’s trustees, Margot Camp, ran a retreat on some of Plato’s well-known myths, including the Cave Allegory and several myths about the afterlife, at Waterperry House, near Wheatley in Oxfordshire, England. This event was open to both first-time and more experienced readers of Plato. The programme included study and discussion in groups, time for personal reflection,  and plenary meetings to share what had been discovered.  In the evenings, everyone enjoyed storytelling in film, painting and sculpture.

The ‘feedback’ from the event indicated it was a great success, so much so that a similar event will be held at the same venue on 10 – 13 June 2024, looking at Socrates’ defence at his trial as portrayed in the Apology.

One person who attended the event said that ‘It was a happy and relaxing few days studying the miraculous words of Plato and letting them flow through me.’  Another described it as ‘thought provoking, making one think how we got here and where we may be going.  Very good to stop and consider what it is all about.’
